I am a big music fan, I'm also old enough to have been listening before streaming services

You would think that streaming services and social media has been great for music

And I'd agree to a point

But it's also connected everything to the point that inevitably people absorb others sounds, or personalities outside of music

Artists used to have 'cult' followings because of the effort it took to access the music you would only really do that for someone who's sound you really enjoyed

Now it's so easy you'll give more things a chance (which is great)

But it also means something needs to sound different to stand out from the crowd

In a time where everything chases virality and is surface level

A unique sound/personality/perspective is more valuable than ever

It might not be viral

But if you build a cult following they will likely BUY your music/ticket to your show/your exclusive online community

One sale is worth more than 1000 streams and one client is worth more than 10000 views
