Target Trap
Lately I've found a rhythm with my reading much more than in the last couple of years
In this time I have become a dad so understandable I have less time on my hands
But that wasn't it
A few years ago I set myself a target of X amount of books to read through the year - the idea was that this would keep me consistent
However, what actually happened was I stopped enjoying reading as much because it felt less like a choice and more like a responsibility or job
Coming off the back of a football career that shaped my life from being 14 (18 years for anyone counting which I stopped doing a few years ago so I'm 28 forever)
I've been reflecting recently and I had a great time during my career but my best memories actually playing football come from before that when it was purely for the love of the game
Something to consider when attaching a target onto something - you might lose the essence of it which is why you were interested in the first place
